Passionate, Invested, Empowered

Classic, classy, and world-class—that’s Chicago’s own CSO! But what’s behind the baton? Since 1934, the League of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra has worked behind the scenes to serve and support our renowned symphonic institution.

Comprised of nearly 250 men and women, the League offers myriad music education programs for youth and adults alike, creates fund-raising events that top the million dollar mark, hosts diverse and elegant salons and seminars and showcases opportunities to meet a global assortment of musicians, conductors, and artists.

Whether your goal is concert subscriber, program planner, project leader, financial supporter, or all-round volunteer, the League of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra needs you. The world may be getting smaller, but music will always be the universal language—so help spread the word! Be a part of something spectacular: Power up to partner up and join the League today.

March 11 2017, Crain-Maling Foundation CSO Young Artists Competition
Join us in Orchestra Hall for the exciting final round of the Crain-Maling Foundation CSO Young Artists Competition, a competition featuring the finest young musicians in the state of Illinois. This year’s competition will feature stringed instruments. In this free public event, one talented young musician will win the opportunity to perform onstage with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at a CSO School or Youth Concert in the following season. Other finalists will have the opportunity to perform with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. The final round of Young Artists Competition is a fantastic opportunity to see tomorrow’s international concert artists early in their careers. Previous winners have included such well-known musicians as pianists Walter Liberace, Eugene Istomin and Herbie Hancock; violinist Rachel Barton Pine; and several members of the CSO—including current Associate Concertmaster Stephanie Jeong and harpist Lynne Turner.
